Derbyshire Girls & Ladies League facing worst ever fixture backlog

Derbyshire Girls & Ladies League is facing the worst fixture situation in the League’s history and all teams have been put on notice that there will be midweek and/or double header fixtures required to complete the season on schedule - and some have already been scheduled. A large number of fixtures have been revised in the last week, following the recent postponements.

Cup fixtures have to be concluded shortly and are the short term priority, as due to the availability of venues, the Cup Final dates are fixed and cannot be moved.

Midweek fixtures will be played on Wednesdays for both Youth and Open Age teams. Kick off times will be confirmed in due course.

Double headers (two games played back-to-back against the same opponent) - ALL youth Double headers will be 25 minutes each way, as Youth players can only play 100 minutes per day.

OPEN AGE double headers will be 30 minutes each way, as laid down in the rules.

The League will try to ensure that travelling is kept to a minimum where midweek games are required - this may require some reshuffling of other fixtures.

It’s not an ideal end to the season for anybody, least of all the League officials trying to fit remaining games into an ever-decreasing number of slots.

Whilst the aim now is to complete the fixtures with minimum disruption, it
is appreciated the fixture changes, midweek games and double headers will involve some unavoidable inconvenience for players, parents and coaches - but this has been an exceptional winter for the sheer volume of games postponed.
