Escorting the teams out, pre-match handshakes, and penalties - all in a day’s work for the Wildcats!

Eight of the girls attending Pride Parks Wildcats Girls Only Football Centre were at the Ladies’ first team’s final game of the season, against Wirksworth at Moorways Stadium on Sunday.

The girls gathered inside the stand and walked out on to the pitch behind the match officials, and with the players of both teams, before participating in the pre-match line up and “respect” handshakes.

The girls also provided a display of deadly finishing in a penalty shoot out competition at half-time.

The girls brought the Ladies luck, with Pride Park running out 3-2 winners in a close fought and entertaining game.

The idea was to provide the girls with experience of matchday, have some fun, and also to see there is the opportunity to play into adulthood. By all accounts they enjoyed the experience!

The girls are pictured outside the players’ tunnel before the game. A selection of photos of the Wildcats’ matchday experience, taken by Polly Gray, have been placed in a gallery which can be viewed HERE.
