Reports of our u8 and u9 games in the DGLL yesterday.

Coincidentally, Wirksworth Colts feature prominently in this week’s reports with the under 8s and under 9s both playing their counterparts from Wirksworth yesterday, and the 1st team playing Wirksworth Colts Ladies team earlier today.

U8 Jaguars v Wirksworth
The girls played well in the first half without it really clicking but weren’t disheartened and continued to play really well in the second half when it all slotted into place much more. Unfortunately Amber and Esther had to miss yesterday’s game. Despite feeling unwell during the game Gabi still battled on and did well. Freya and Devina took turns in goal and both did very well, and there were good attempts from Kara, Freya and Lucy.

U9 Lionesses v Wirksworth
The Lionesses and Wirksworth put on an entertaining game for the spectators, with the teams evenly matched, and the action end to end with plenty of goalmouth incidents and chances for both sides.

Passing practise has paid off; Ava, Edie, Ruby and Zoe all working well to keep possession, find space, and work the ball towards the Wirksworth goal. There were plenty of chances and shots at goal, but Wirksworth defended well and gave as good as they got in return.

Georgia took the gloves in the first half, Emily taking over in the second half for Pride Park, and both put in fantastic performances. We really missed Iysla, with Eddie and Georgia taking it in turns at left back, and with Daisy and Emily a force to be reckoned with in defence.

All the girls were relentless today and it was great to see them working so well together. They all played their part, showing great teamwork and communication, and should be massively proud of themselves. Wirksworth also played very well and the two teams put on a fabulous game to watch. Good job everyone!

Special mention to Emily (not biased, honestly!) for getting up and tackling again, even after injury (thankfully it's just a graze!).
