A round up of the penultimate weekend for our u8 and u9 teams and the final fixtures for our u10 and u11s

U8 Jaguars v Wirksworth
As is customary at the Racecourse the match kicked off in chilly and windy conditions. With both sides attacking from the off there was plenty of goalmouth action and chances created.

Pride Park forced an early corner and Wirksworth had a long range shot, whilst Freya pressed from the front to tackle the Wirksworth ‘keeper.

Pride Park were building their attacks with some excellent passing.

In the second half, Rose had an early shot, then hit the bar with another and Freya hit the post. Devina nearly reached a cross from Rose to turn it in at full stretch and Lucy had a shot across goal as the Jaguars pushed forward.

U9 Lionesses v Hilton
The Lionesses could only field 6 players yesterday, so with Hilton having 3 substitutes to call on it was always going to be a tuff one, but what a game it turned out to be! It was yet another amazing game from start to finish featuring the Lionesses.

Edie was in goal in the first half and did an amazing job, and is developing quite a powerful kick with her left foot. Ruby was in defence supported by Emily further forward. The Lionesses managed to keep Hilton attackers at bay for long periods, but were still able to mount attacks of their own.

Daisy and Zoe both covered significant ground in the match with their now trademark relentlessness, creating chances. Set-pieces are coming along nicely, with great throw-ins and corners from Daisy, Zoe, Emily, Ruby and Isabella - one terrific corner by Zoe created an opportunity for a great shot by Isabella.

There was a change in goal in the second half, with Emily taking over from Edie.

The fresh legs of the Hilton girls did not deter Pride Park’s Lionesses and a helping hand from Hilton resulted in a penalty, taken powerfully by Zoe.

Ruby made some amazing runs and had some chances at goal and there was great passing from Edie. Isabella played what might be her best game so far, passing, running with the ball, and creating some chances at goal. Daisy in defence and Edie stopped Hilton attacks on a number of occasions by disrupting their stride - and when Hilton did get sight of goal Emily was working hard to keep shots out - a great job by the whole team!

It was a really gripping game to watch - which means the parents of both teams’ players nerves were shot by the end of the match, but it was testament to the hard work put in by the girls, and their fantastic team spirit really shone through again.

It was a great penultimate match of the season. The girls should be so proud of themselves

U10 v Stanton Ilkeston
The u10s were back on the ATP for the final game of the season on a warm afternoon. Stanton were quick and organised right from the start, making sure they were first to the ball. Pride Park got in their rhythm in the second half and started to play the football they can, with some good movement, passing and dribbling. There were some good chances created but without being able to capitalise on them.

U11 v Burton Albion
Both teams played some excellent football, striking a good balance between passing to feet, playing into space and dribbling. It was a great game for the spectators. Pride Park worked hard and consistently throughout the game which led to great strikes from Yumi and Lucy. There was some committed play from Felicity and an all round performance from Violet.
