COLD BUT HAPPY

It was a very cold start this Saturday morning but both teams soon warmed up and played a good spirited game.

Pride Park U12 girls are starting to bring training to match day and are developing their approach to 9v9 football. Today our midfield became more confident in meeting the opposition in the middle third of the pitch, winning the ball and then driving it into the last third, creating numerous scoring opportunities. It was great to see Eloise, Fliss, Lillie and Violet win the ball in that middle third and run it forwards before passing out wide or even having a go at goal themselves. Pride Park's defence is also making great contributions to the game defensively by making controlled transitions from defence to attack.

Working as a team, the girls scored 7 goals with Violet getting her first hat-trick and also goals from Ruby, Eloise, Polly and Yumi. The manager, Andy, said "Its great to see our training coming onto the pitch and the progress in midfield is good to see. All our goals were based on team work and I was really pleased to see our captain, Violet, get her first hat-trick. The team saw her in a good position, delivered the ball and Violet took the shots. We need to keep working on this, as well as developing our individual competitiveness. I'd also like say well done to our keeper, Freya, who came confidently off her line to block shots, collect the ball and even out of the area to make a clearance. Brilliant."
