Improving Panthers show belief

After a few heavy defeats and up against the team currently second in the League, the signs weren’t all that promising coming into the game but the girls did themselves proud.

We competed with Toton in every aspect of the game, the Girls were well organised and did what was asked of them tactically, worked for each other and almost took the lead when Paige’s shot came back from the inside of the post.

Toton are amongst the best teams in this League and we held them - and could see them getting frustrated - and but for a momentary loss of concentration would have gone in level at half-time.

We showed that we can play football and make a good competitive match of it against the best teams when we play for each other. We weren’t able to quite maintain the level of the first half and Toton gradually eased away, although midway through the second half, Jess picked the ball up in her own half got her head up and played a nice through ball which Evie raced on to, outpacing the the defenders to take the ball into the box and beat the keeper with a calm finish into the corner.

It was nice to see all the girls with a smile on their faces because they all know they played well and gave their all; well done girls, you made us all proud. A special mention is due to Jaz for a her player of the match performance on her debut and to Evie for her calmness in front of goal.

Keep going girls - you believed in yourselves today and it showed in how you played.
