IN the second of our series in we turn the spotlight on our under 10 Jaguars.

Team Manager James Cunningham introduces the Jaguars, who have been playing in the Derbyshire Girls League for the last 3 seasons: "The girls are growing and developing their football knowledge and ability every week. They all love the game and have a fantastic together attitude which will no doubt help them going forward".

Alicia:
An outstanding, fearless goalkeeper who’s been with the team for 2 years now. With several spectacular saves week-after-week, she has been a crucial member of the team. She also likes to play out of goal, often playing in defence, where she can be seen making tough tackles and dribbling the ball out. Was voted Parents’ Player of the Year last season.

Holly:
Joined the team at the start of the season and settled into the team straight away. A very talented defender who always gives opposition strikers a challenging game. Brilliant at marking, and competing in 1v1s, she quickly turns defence into attack by passing to get our attacks moving.

Madeline:
Another new player this season. Outstanding leadership on the pitch and a tough tackler. She has proven herself to be a versatile and intelligent player who plays in defence and midfield and can always be relied on for last ditch tackles. She has excellent natural football ability and a real can-do attitude.

Esther A:
An experienced and intelligent player who has been with the Jaguars for 3 seasons. Always takes on what we are working on in training, asking good questions, and she has really developed her ability to pass and receive this season whilst been a key defender in the team with great positional awareness.

Tiana:
Last season’s Coaches’ Player of the Year has been training only this year, and due to other weekend commitments, hasn’t been able to play in many matches. An intelligent and talented defender who gives everything in training and still wants to learn. We are looking forward to seeing her playing matches again soon!

Wren:
A player with a wonderful left foot. Has shown lots of progress this season with very calm and composed performances in defence to tackle and bring the ball down before passing to teammates. She also enjoys playing on the left wing where she shows her growing ability to dribble with the ball and put in crosses.

Rose:
A player with fantastic natural ability. Her all-action displays have made her a marked player in many matches, but this doesn’t stop her! She loves to run with the ball on mazey dribbles with a wide range of skills and strength to beat defenders to get a shot at goal or setting up a teammate. A dynamic midfielder who covers every blade of grass often running from one end of the pitch to the other, to turn defence into attack.

Amber:
A player that can play (and has played!) in every position on the pitch. Fully committed, a great willingness to learn and always puts the team first. Is at home as an energetic midfielder who has really worked on her ball skills and passing this season.

Zara:
A winger who has really developed her ability to move with the ball this season. Playing on the left or right she has become a superb passer of the ball, and we are seeing brilliant interchanges with her teammates to create chances. Her ability to beat defenders in 1v1s is really developing now too.

Esther O:
Joined the team fully in the summer and has made huge progress this season. She has a real willingness to learn and plays with a fantastic and enthusiastic attitude in matches and training where she has become a tough tackling midfielder and is very tough to beat when defending.
Katie: Another player that joined the team this season. She has settled well into the team and has a real willingness to learn especially with ball mastery skills. She has been playing on the wing this season and has become a real hard-working player for the team who charges up and down the wing and has a real eye for goal.

Freya:
Has been with the Jaguars from the beginning playing as a centre forward. Always willing to run and has a real knack of being in the right place at the right time. She’s always looking to be on the end of crosses and passes into the box to get a shot at goal. This season she has been integral in linking play with the midfielders which creates some impressive passing moves.

Lucy:
Has been with the club since the start of the U8 season. A wonderful attitude who wants to learn in training. Playing either upfront or on the wing she has a great understanding with the rest of the team when on the attack and has a strong right foot which always tests the keeper! Last season she was voted Players Player of the Year.
