Two of our mini-soccer teams were in action yesterday, and we’ve reports from both games

u10 Jaguars v Doveridge
A well contested match with both teams playing good attacking passing football.
The Jaguars began the 1st half on the front foot, passing and moving around the Doveridge area and forcing the keeper into a series of saves. The girls had to be very aware of the quick Doveridge attack on breakaways but good cover and closing down space limited shots at our goal.

The second half was similar to the first, with the girls pushing to create chances as the game became more stretched. They continued to work hard to win the ball and play with the right positive attitude. All in all, a good morning - the girls played very well again against a strong team. The girls were also praised for their performance, attitude and approach to the game by the opposition coaches, which was nice to hear.

Lots of positives we can take into training and our next few matches.

U11 Lionesses v Codnor
Some brilliant individual performances and 'some' good sequence of passes, but not quite up to the standard of football we've become accustomed to watching on a Saturday from the Lionesses.

Despite conceding fairly early in the match (it was great play and shot by Codnor), the girls kept their heads and soon got one back with a powerful shot from Jess.
Iysla working hard on the wing created some good attacking play, looking focused and in the zone. Another great performance from Evie, starting in defence putting in a good shift, and later playing CF showing great versatility (she's pretty good in goal too). Ayla, (one of our newer players) showed good progression through the game - with a bit of a nervous start, she found her feet and was looking much more confident towards the end of the match - well done.

We switched things around quite a lot in this match to give the girls some experience in different positions. Which did affect the overall flow, but all good experience for the girls. Jess was on fire throughout, even taking a go in goal - she only has one setting and it's 'flat out mode'(although I'm not entirely sure the goalie position played to her strengths!). Jess was really sharp in front of goal, earning herself PotM

And right at the end of the match we saw a great run from Edie on the LW, going around a Codnor defender with ease and taking a brilliant, powerful shot on target - forcing a good save by the GK, bouncing back out to Edie, who strikes well again, the ball hitting a Codnor player and out of play - only for the ref to blow the final whistle. Keep going Edie great effort
