WHAT A MATCH!

This was a great game for both Pride Park and Mickleover Sports players and their supporters. Pride Park worked hard throughout the match and were rewarded with a goal half way into the second half.

Both teams made a determined start. Pride Park settled and made some good moves attacking with pace and structure. The combinations of different plays saw Pride Park attacking down both wings as well as the middle of the pitch and various players having good shots on goal. Pride Park kept possession well and applied pressure when out of possession. Mickleover Sport made some confident fast attacks, but Pride Park's defence played confidently and our goal keeper, Taylor, made great saves, bravely putting herself in amongst the boots and the mud to get the ball.

Throughout the game Ruby played good through balls into the final third from midfield and Eloise made bursting runs and came close to scoring. The team also played Ellie in a new position, on the wing, who made good runs getting the ball into the box. Pride Park finally got their reward with some great decision making, as Anya opted to play the ball wide to Yumi on the edge of the box who then calmly chipped the ball over Mickleover Sport's keeper who'd come running out to defend a shot.

Pride Park's manager Andy said "I'm really proud of all the girls and how they're working together in training and matches. We're making real progress and starting to show some quality thinking and decision making throughout fast games. I still think we could apply more pressure to win the ball back quicker in the oppositions half and we continue to work on that. Well done girls."
