There are familiar opponents for our teams in the second round of the Derbyshire FA Women’s Cup, which was drown earlier today.
The 1st team have been drawn at home to East Midlands Regional League side Belper Town - who are familiar in so far as the teams came up against other regularly in the Derbyshire Girls and Ladies League, prior to Belper’s election to the Regional League two seasons ago. Personnel changes since then will probably mean there will be few familiar faces when the teams line up. It’s a tough draw for The Pride, so it’s unlikely to be a repeat of the last time the teams played at Moorways in January 2024 - a crazy sixteen goal avalanche - but is an opportunity o test ourselves against higher league opposition.
The Devs have an away trip to last Sunday’s league opposition, Heanor Town. That hame ended in a narrow defeat for the Devs, so they will be hoping for a slight improvement in the cup.
The full draw is:
Heanor v Pride Park Development
Pride Park v Belper Town
