Pride Park FC Women’s First Team’s pre-season schedule has been confirmed as preparations ramp up for our first campaign in the East Midlands Regional League. Coming off an exceptional, trophy-winning season as Derbyshire Girls & Ladies League Division 1 Champions, The Pride have a rigorous eight-game block to help get them ready for or Tier 6 football.
The schedule features three home fixtures at Moorways Sports Village and five away tests against diverse regional opposition.
Action Kicks Off at Moorways
The squad will get its first taste of match action next Thursday, 9th July (19:00 KO) when they host Chesterfield CT Under 18s for an evening game on the Moorways 3G surface.
The second home fixture is the following Sunday, 12th July, when Calverton Miners Welfare visit Moorways.
The fixtures are designed to help the squad prepare physically and to test the squad against varying playing styles from across the neighbouring counties and league. There’s games against high ranked County league opposition from Nottinghamshire in Calverton Miners Welfare and Radcliffe Olympic, and a trip to Brookside Athletic of the Leicestershire league.
There’s an interesting match up against Hucknall Town who, like The Pride, have been promoted as Champions and will be playing in East Midlands Regional Division 1 North. There are three further fixtures against established three Tier 6 teams Handsworth, Arnold Eagles and concluding with a game at Chesterfield Community Trust.
Women's FA Cup
There could be at least one change to the schedule - should Pride Park's application for entry to the Women’s FA Cup be accepted; the Preliminary Round is due to be held on Sunday, 23rd August.
Get Behind The Pride: Mark your calendars for next Thursday, 9th July, and come down to support the team as this exciting new chapter begins!
