Maja Znamirowska Reaches 100 League and Cup Goals For #ThePride

Maja Znamirowska has become the first player to reach 100 goals in League and Cup competitions after opening the scoring in Pride Park’s game against Mickleover on Sunday.

Maja went on to complete a perfect hat-trick of right foot, header and left foot finishes in an 18 minutes spell in Sunday’s game, as The Pride completed a second half turnaround to win the game and secure second place in the League.

Maja joined Pride Park six years ago, making her debut against Ashbourne - coming on as a substitute to score two goals. In all, Maja has now scored 102 goals in 82 appearances.

In 10 games this season, Maja has bagged 12 goals and with Summer Evans (14 goals in 12 games) makes a formidable partnership which has flourished in the latter half of this season.

After Sunday’s game and becoming the first Pride Park player to reach 100 goals, Maja admitted she had felt the pressure after not finding the net for a couple of games; „the wait for Goal #100 was putting pressure on me and to be honest I wasn’t sure I would score it.”

„I'm very proud of our team that despite losing 0:2 at half-time we managed to level it up and finally win. I'm very happy to finish 2nd in the league. Hopefully next season we can go one better!

„Of course winning that game was very important, and everybody did well to achieve that result and thanks to them I've also achieved my personal goal. I like to have some kind of motivation, some kind of goal to achieve - especially when you know you don't have much time left on the pitch.”

„I also want to thank Dave, Pearse and Jamie for the support they give us, for a great atmosphere and being helpful all the time. Also I wanted to thank the girls for being who they are; great friends with passion, a fantastic sense of humour and making that team precious and one of a kind. Thank you - and I'm preparing now for #200!” she said, laughing.
