The season may be wrapping up, but the debate is just heating up. We have curated a shortlist of five spectacular saves that are in the running for our official Save of the Season.
The ultimate winner will be selected by our Goalkeeper Coaching partner, Steve Waite of Under The Bar Goalkeeper Training, and officially announced this Friday at the 1st team end-of-season function at The Orange Tree.
The One That Got Away... ⛈️ A quick shoutout to another absolute contender that sadly missed the cut: Jess Davies’ unbelievable fingertip save that helped secure a massive win at Buxton back in March. Due to the torrential downpour during the match, the camera failed to record it. You're still a winner in our eyes, Jess!
For the five that did make the cameras, you can watch the video package by clicking the image above. But just for fun, we want to know what the fans think. Check out the contenders below and let us know your favorite in the comments!
The Contenders:
- A - Jade v Long Eaton Utd Dev (September) A defensive slip-up left a central striker completely unattended and through on goal. Jade reacted instantly, rushing out with perfect timing to block the shot and clear the danger.
- B - Jade v Buxton (October) After an initial shot was blocked, the rebound was fired fiercely toward the bottom corner. In tricky conditions, Jade did exceptionally well to get down low and turn it around the post for a corner.
- C - Jade v Belper Town (November) Jade reacted to a venomous, low-driven shot, getting just enough on it to tip it safely around the post.
- D - Jodie v Wirksworth Colts (November) Jodie showed incredible reactions to reach and tip a goal-bound shot onto the crossbar
- E - Jade v Long Eaton Utd Dev (December) Jade showed incredible athleticism at full stretch to tip a low, driven shot right around the foot of the post.
