U8s v Mickleover
The game started really evenly with opportunities at both ends. Rose started in goal for #ThePride and made some great saves. Kara put in some strong tackles and supported by Amber, and when she came on Esther, kept things tight in defence in the first half. Esther’s solid throw-ins kept the team in Mickleover’s half and Lucy had a great shot on goal, Amber also doing well from the rebound.

The second half saw Devina make some tackles and put in some great runs towards goal supported by Gabbie. Kara also put in some great runs upfield. Devina took a knock but she got straight back on! Gabbie worked hard up front to make opportunities, and Kara, Rose - from a free kick - and Lucy all had great shots.

A great team effort today from our girls, some great opportunities made, and it was early and very, very cold. Well done Jaguars!

U9 v Wirksworth Colts
After an early setback the girls dug deep with some good attempts by both Ruby and Zoe in the first half. Ava was tremendous, at one point holding her own against 3 - yes, 3 Wirksworth girls - and would not let them get the ball. Amazing! Isabella showed some great skill in turning with the ball and passing with great accuracy.

Daisy had some powerful kicks and some fabulous throw-ins. Emily, in central defence did well against a strong side, but Wirksworth managed to evade us at times and get goal-side (something we recognised and are going to work on preventing).

Wirksworth were relentless at times and Georgia had to work hard to keep out many efforts, which she did fantastically; even saving a corner which came very close to landing in the back of the net.

In the second half Wirksworth, who had 3 subs, were able to introduce fresh legs. Emily was now in goal and Georgia playing outfield. Ava and Ruby put in some fantastic long runs, ending with good shots or getting the ball in to the feet of Zoe or Georgia, who also had good shots.

The girls kept battling and showed good teamwork. Isabella tackled well and won the ball back on several occasions and then showed good passing; her confidence on the pitch is growing with every match. Georgia and Zoe delivered some excellent, accurate corners in the 2nd half.

It was a difficult game this week against a good Wirksworth side with a rather defensive performance in the first half, although some good counter attacks, but more attacking in the second half with some good chances created. The girls battled all the way and we make it easy for Wirksworth; the girls should be super proud of themselves.
