TEAM TALK | MINI SOCCER ROUND UP

David Kwiatek23 Mar - 11:30

Reports from two of yesterday’s games, including a brilliant performance from the u11 Jaguars’ in their cup semi-final

U11 Plate Semi Final - Pride Park U11 Jaguars 6 - 0 Swadlincote
(Rose 3, Wren 2, Amber)

The Jaguars are into the Plate Final in May, following a brilliant performance against Swadlincote. A really good performance in the first half, with 3 goals - Rose with a first time shot from the halfway line that went over the keeper - a brilliant goal! Then Wren with 2 goals. Two more goals from Rose in the second half to complete a well deserved hat trick, and a well taken finish from Amber to make it six.

Some of the passing was brilliant, the passes from the centre out to the wings created many chances, Katie and Lucy took players on and crossed the ball to Wren and Freya in the centre. One brilliant move from a pass from Zara from the left wing to Katie on the right and a cross to Rose who hit the bar - would have been a great goal!

A clean sheet too for the team, with Alicia making some key saves early on and Ava, Evelyn, Tiana and Holly all making key tackles to prevent Swadlincote from creating chances and they used the ball well with passes to our midfield and forwards. Zara covered in goal with Alicia making another impactful cameo in midfield late in the game.

Player of the match went to Katie, very well deserved for a hard working performance on the right wing, and getting into the right positions to run to passes from midfield to get crosses into the box. Well done Girls!

The Final is on 5th May at the Racecourse against Woodlands Warriors, who beat Sleetmoor Utd on penalties in the other semi-final.

U10 Pumas v Field Lane
A really competitive game again against a strong Field Lane team. The girls started like a steam roller and on the attack quickly. The girls were on the front foot all of the first half. Towards the end of the half field lane got themselves into some good positions but Umayyah, Dela and Tayla sniffed out the danger when required. Bella, Evie and Millie were providing the defence a solid bank in front of them and Erin and Enya when on were leading from the front.

The second half was a lot tighter and Field Lane had a good amount of the ball but the Pumas looked dangerous when going forward and the keeper made a couple of saves and some efforts flew wide in another competitive game against these opponents.

Millie was our player of the match for an amazing performance and she also played out of position for some of the game - the ultimate team player!
