TEAM TALK | MINI SOCCER ROUND UP

TEAM TALK | MINI SOCCER ROUND UP

David Kwiatek6 Apr - 10:30

Our mini-soccer teams were in action yesterday and we have reports of two games

u11 Jaguars v Belper Hammers
The Jaguars took on Belper Hammers yesterday with just seven players available. An end to end first half saw plenty of shots at goal for both teams, Alicia saving and Tiana and Ava defending well. Amber played some great passes to Wren as the Jaguars continued to create chances.

In the 2nd half, Lucy and Katie set up several chances from the wings, and Alicia played in midfield in the last 15 minutes and gave another good display. The player of the match was Tiana, who was excellent in defence with pressing, covering, and passing out from the back.

u10 Pumas v Chellaston
Another terrific performance from the girls today, although it was a slow start - not helped by the wind which was holding the ball up in the first half.

Bella went close with an effort which the keeper saved and Millie was so close when her constant hassling caused the defence to have a mix up but the keeper forced her slightly wide as she tried to get a shot away.

Ivy, Umayyah and Tayla provided a solid barrier in front of Lily in goal, backed up by Millie, Bella, Dela and Evie who as always were busy in the middle of the park with their tenacious attitudes to winning the ball back and going again.

Millie won the ball and it bounced into Bella’s path and she fired a powerful shot at goal which the keeper did well to get a hand to.

Evie was trying to find Enya who was struggling a little with an injury but battled on and Bella and Millie were linking well and trying to do new things from corners.

Bella went on one of her runs, and looked up and found Millie in the middle of the pitch and Mills released an absolute rocket.

Bella broke clear and unselfishly picked out Erin in the box and she put a good shot in. Erin then had a shot which went agonisingly wide after a great through ball by Evie.

Again another superb performance from all of the girls but Ivy was named player of the match after a solid defensive performance and some really good moments winning the ball back and getting the girls going again.
