TEAM TALK | MINI SOCCER ROUND UP

u11 Pumas 5-0 Mackworth
The Pumas sealed their place in the next round of the cup after an impressive display. Coming up against a big, physical Mackworth team, the Pumas struggled early on as Mackworth used their strength and found themselves with a penalty midway through the first half. Their striker stepped up but Lily guessed correctly and made a brilliant save to deny them - and change the course of the game as this then woke the girls up.

Soon after the Pumas found themselves 1 up when Bella danced around a couple of defenders and found Erin with a pinpoint pass and Erin applied the finish.

Straight from the kick off the girls pushed Mackworth back and this time Millie won the ball high up and slipped in Erin again for number 2. Now settled in, the girls were playing well and didn’t wait long for their third. Bella won the ball in the middle of the park and drove forward and with her left foot slid Sophie in who took a great first touch and her second found the bottom corner. 3-0 at half time and confidence was flowing.

A change in goal for the second half as Bella T went in goal but due to her solid defence of Ivy, Umayyah and Tayla, she was much a spectator for the second half as they provided a solid barrier. In midfield, Dela, Millie, Bella, Tayla and Erin were dominating the ball and trying to create more chances but had to wait until late into the second half for number 4 but when Bella saw the ball dropping following a clearance she set her aim and hit a crisp half volley which swerved away from the keeper.

Millie was extremely unlucky when she won the ball on the edge of her own box and went on a terrific run but her effort went agonisingly wide, but she was certainly at the heart of our 5th goal. Again driving forward from her own half she unselfishly got to the edge of the box and squared the ball to Erin who duly applied the finish for her hat trick. An all around brilliant performance from the Pumas and into the draw. After an all action performance, Bella was named as our player of the match.

U8 Panthers 1 - 4 Mickleover Juniors
The girls came up against a strong physical team on Saturday and didn’t always get the run of the ball. Mickleover took a two goal first half lead when the ball fell kindly for them, although Amelia made some great saves to keep it at 2-0. The girls started the second half strongly pulled one back through Ben with a great finish. Mickleover re-grouped and we found it hard to break them down. The girls continued to battle on, but as we pushed for an equaliser we left ourselves open and Mickleover scored two more goals.
Priya was player of the match with some good passing and solid challenges ??
We can take some positives from today and will continue to work on them at training. Thanks for everyone coming down and showing your support
