TEAM TALK | MINI SOCCER ROUND UP

A review of the mini soccer action at the weekend

U11 Pumas v Allenton United
It was another good performance from the Pumas on Saturday. Playing Allenton for the first time the girls were not sure what to expect but they soon set about the challenge in front of them.

From the first minute, the girls were on the front foot with Millie going close early on after a driving run. Erin was denied a couple of times by the outstanding Allenton keeper. Bella then tried her luck from distance and hit the post twice and Millie caused problems for the defence with a great run and cross. Enya’s persistence lead to a couple of opportunities and Mini notched her first for the club after a scramble in which Dela was being a pain to Allenton and the ball dropped to Mini in mid-air for an improvised finish.

Lily was well protected behind a solid defensive barrier, backed up by the midfield of Millie, Bella, Enya, Dela and Mini. The forward two of Sophie and Erin were a constant threat throughout not giving the defenders a moments rest.

The Allenton keeper was in brilliant form; denying Sophie a handful of times, Enya came close with a shot over the bar and Millie put an effort wide.

Bella T was in goal in the second half and had to save a couple of shots from range but could do nothing about a free kick taken by the keeper from about 25 yards out, an absolute bullet - it was a special effort even if it was against us!

An encouraging performance as the girls build up to the cup final in two weeks time. All of the girls played brilliantly and Mini was named player of the match.
