U11 Pumas v Swadlincote Stars
It required a gritty and determined performance yesterday from the Pumas against a physical and strong Swadlincote. The Pumas started a little nervously and Swadlincote had an early sight of goal but this was dealt with by Lily with a good save.
The girls grew into the game and were playing well with and without the ball; Umayyah, Ivy and Tayla were defending well - and Bella T who was in goal for the second half made a good block before she had to come off injured after colliding with a Swadlincote striker.
Millie, Mini, Bella and Erin in midfield were working hard and closing everything down, winning the ball and soon breaking and looking dangerous.
Bella made a good jinking run, and also put a quality pass into Enya who had a sweeping shot, and Millie, Erin, Mini and Enya all had a few shots on the Swadlincote goal.
The defence and midfield managed the game amazingly for their age, and there were some amazing performances again from all the girls, but our POTM was Mini - who had her best game for the club yet.

U8 Panthers v Woodlands
This was a fantastic game of football, with every girl from both teams producing a performance to be proud of in an exciting and competitive encounter.
The game started brightly for the Panthers, with Emily having a good shot. Woodlands responded strongly and began to take control of the game but a few words of encouragement sparked a huge response from the Panthers. The girls took the game to Woodlands with real determination and belief. In midfield, Sofia and Ben were outstanding, acting as true generals - covering every blade of grass, breaking up attacks, and creating chances going forward including one for Sofia who had a cracking shot.
At the back, Edith, Elsie, and Diana defended brilliantly to limit Woodlands’ chances. Diana and Elsie also stepped in as goalkeepers when needed, showing great teamwork and commitment. Sia played her part superbly as well, breaking up play and clearing danger at crucial moments.
Emily, after being asked to stay further forward, kept the Woodlands defenders under constant pressure, completing an excellent individual performance. Her effort, attitude, and impact on the game earned her a well-deserved Player of the Match award.
A thrilling contest from start to finish, full of effort, teamwork, and resilience from both sides - an excellent advert for youth football.
