Doug Outt6 Sep - 12:21

The season gets underway tomorrow with a Women’s FA Cup 1st Round Qualifying tie against Nottingham Trent University. Doug Outt previews the game

Our opponents
Nottingham Trent University play one tier higher in the women’s pyramid in East Midlands Regional League Division 1 - which they were champions of in 2022/24 - and to which they return this season after playing in the Premier Division last season.

In addition to their 1st team, NTU also have senior development teams in Division 1 and Division 2 of the Nottinghamshire Girls and Ladies League - as well as teams competing successfully in the midweek BUCS University leagues.

Facts and Stats
This is the first time #ThePride have been given a home draw in the Women’s FA Cup at the fifth attempt. On each occasion they have been drawn against higher league opposition, so if they are to progress to the 2nd Round Qualifying for the first time, it will require something of a cup upset.

Team News[b/]
Summer Evans returns to the matchday squad for a competitive fixture for the first time since an ACL injury almost exactly two years ago.

Ellie-Mae Coleman remains sidelined with a knee injury, while Sophie Ayton and Emily Hayden are recovering from knocks. This being the time for late summer breaks, there’s several players that are unavailable this weekend.

[b]In Charge
The Referee for the game is Neil Britten, assisted by David Vardy and Khalil Akbar.

How to watch
The game is at Moorways Sports Village, Moor Lane, DE24 9HY and kicks off at 2pm.

There is covered seating available for spectators in the grandstand and ample car parking. Car parking restrictions are not enforced on match days. Refreshments are available from the cafeteria in the main Pool building just across the car park. Please note only officials and players are permitted beyond the railings/gate in front of the grandstand and dogs (other than assistance dogs) are not permitted on site.
