The Ladies face a crucial, potentially season defining game away at Belper Town on Sunday. The teams are currently 2nd and 3rd respectively in the League, both having played 9 games and with Belper on 19 points and Pride Park on 16 pts - making this game the proverbial “six pointer”.
Belper Town were the Ladies’ first ever opponent at Open Age, when we played then in DG&LL Division 2 in September 2014 at Alton Manor. After going behind 2-0 the Ladies fought back to secure a 4-2 win, winning one and losing one of the other league meetings that season.
There have been no further meetings until this season, in which the teams have already met three times; twice in the Cups and once in the League; with Pride Park having the upper hand in extremely close games in the Cups (6-2 and 5-4, both in October) but Belper enjoying a deserved and comfortable victory in the League in January (7-2). Belper are also currently on a 7 match unbeaten run in the League so, it should be a very competitive game.
