The Ladies face the first of two Cup Finals on consecutive weekends this Sunday when they play Wirksworth Colts Ladies in the Division 1 League Cup Final at Matlock Town’s stadium.
The teams haven’t met in the League this season - and have only met on three previous occasions, with 2 wins for Pride Park and 1 for the Colts.
After struggling for results in the League early in the season, Wirksworth appear to have come into a run of form in recent weeks, beating Castle Donington twice in the Cups, drawing against Ilkeston Town, and only losing on penalties to Buxton in last week’s inaugural Derbyshire FA Womens Plate Final.
To reach the Final, Wirksworth knocked out Ilkeston Town (6-3) in the quarter-Final, and Castle Donington 5-0 in the semi-Final, whilst Pride Park only just scraped through both their games, against Belper Town 5-4 in the quarter-Final, and Alfreton Town (7-6)in the semi-Final.
The teams will get to know each other quite well over the next month, as in addition to playing the two Cup Finals, they also have two League fixtures.
