It’s County Cup action tomorrow as the Ladies play Derby Rovers in the 1st Round at Alvaston Park.
Rovers are in their second season at Open Age, having been established as a new team last year - no mean feat in itself. They currently sit in mid table in Div 2, but with only 2 League games played, league position is an unreliable indicator - in fact they’ve only lost once, to 1st Division Buxton at the beginning of September, who they have since beaten, and since then have recorded 3 wins and 2 draws - so are building a decent run and represent a potential banana skin for the Ladies.
The County Cup limits the number of substitutes that can be used to 3 (out of 5), but the Ladies have five players unavailable through injury and have been forced into an emergency signing of a GK; Elena Garcia-Verdugo, who is line for a debut. Nevertheless, the Ladies will be hoping to build on good early season performances, and their first win of the season two weeks ago, in tomorrow’s game. Kick off is at 1.30pm.
