The Ladies are back in Cup action tomorrow, in the Challenge Cup Quarter-Final against Matlock Town Ladies.
To reach this stage, Pride Park beat Woodlands Reserves 3-0 in the 1st round at the beginning of October, whilst Matlock required a replay against Sleetmoor United, which they won comprehensively 7-0. As the replay was played on the same day as the other quarter-finals, this is the last of the quarter-finals to be played, with the winners facing Derby County Ladies Foundation in the semi-final.
The teams have only met twice before: in the 2015-16 Womens County Cup Pride Park came back from 3-0 down to win 6-3 with goals scored by Sarah Levitt (2), Jordele Folkes (2), Mandy Sherratt and Dani Woolridge. In last season’s Challenge Cup, Pride Park won 5-0 (half time 0-0) with goals from Chelsie Tebble (3), Hannah Roberts, and Bleu Lewis-Wilson.
The Ladies will be looking to bounce back after the County Cup, but can expect a rough game - Matlock remain unbeaten this season, with seven wins and three draws in their 10 League and Cup games to date.
If tomorrow’s game is level after 90 minutes, a replay will be required to decide who will face Derby County Ladies Foundation in the semi-final in March.
Form in last 6 games:
Matlock DDWWWD
Pride Park DWWWWL
Note the change of venue - although a home game, the match is being played at Moorways Stadium, Kick off 1.30pm.
