After a three week hiatus the Pride are due to return to League action on Sunday with a visit to Stanton Ilkeston - which after cup commitments and postponements will be the first league game in five weeks. There is a pitch inspection planned for Sunday morning.
Our opponents
Stanton Ilkeston began life in 1921 as Stanton FC, the team of Stanton Ironworks - hence their nickname of “The Ironmen” and in recent years “Iron Ladies”. From those early days as a works team the club has, in recent years, evolved into a community based organisation with no link to the Stanton works.
The Iron Ladies play in Royal Blue shirt, shorts & blue/white stripped socks (so Pride will be playing in the fuchsia/navy ‘away’ strip). The current Ladies team joined the open age ranks in 2020/21 and achieved promotion to Division 1 from the 2022/23 season.
Facts and Stats
This will be the fifth meeting of the teams - they met twice in the League last season and in the Challenge Cup last month - see match report and highlights. The teams also played a pre-season friendly, won by Stanton, in August 2021.
Although Pride have come out on top in the three competitive meetings to date, the second game at Moorways last season showed Stanton can be be a tricky opponent, as it required a goal two minutes from time for Pride to secure a narrow and hard fought win.
In Charge
The Referee for the game is Nicky Lees
