In our first reverse fixture of the season we travelled the short distance to Borrowash hoping to put right our early season defeat.
In a close-fought game which both team battled well Borrowash took the lead on 40 minutes as the striker burst through the centre of the Pride backline and lifted a shot over the on-rushing keeper to take the lead. Pride Park Devs fought back well and were unlucky not to be level on goals, frustratingly #thepride could have been easily taken the lead at this point with a higher score line, but this wasn’t to be in the first half.
A couple of changes at half time to bring some fresh legs on - as everyone had worked so hard in the first half - started to pay off and as the home team started to tire, Pride Park got a foot hold in the game when Sarah played though Naomi who placed a shot in to the bottom corner on the 66 minute.
Pride Park Development then took control of the game and got our a final goal when Carys played the ball to Sarah on the right corner of the 18 yard box, she turned her player and delivered a spectacular shot into the top left corner on the 78th minute.
Every single player put a solid shift in and proved to themselves that the game isn’t over until the final whistle.
Player of the match was Alice who didn’t stop running was solid in the challenge and dealt with every attack down the left hand side brilliantly.
So after a very wet and soggy Sunday we gained another 3pts in the bag which brings us level on points with Borrowash Ladies Res. and behind them only on goal difference in fifth.
