It wasn't the result we were hoping for but always knew it would be a tough fixture against a Div2 side in the Ladies Challenge cup.
We started off strong with our skipper Becky taking an early lead just 4 minutes into the game, quickly followed by another goal from Blythe - unfortunately with a questionable offside the momentum quickly shifted as as Stanton hit the back of the net with three goals in 10 minutes to turn the game around, The Devs hit out strong and found another goal from Becky just before half time taking it to a 3-2.
A strong start to the second half creating several chances turning up the heat on Stanton, we pushed for the equalizer which came from a through ball into the box to beating the defence with Becky running through and scoring with a fantastic header only to be ruled out by a questionable offside, but we dug deep we stayed strong with plenty of chances, only to be caught on the counter attack giving Stanton another 2 quick goals.
Player of the match was chosen by our supporters group - PoTM without a doubt goes to Nerys (Paddy)
Supporters group - The whole team battles hard, and in our opinion we were the better team but unfortunately the score didn't reflect this - Nerys from the start defended her heart out! An absolute warrior at the back, taking charge and being on the front foot! They all played well and deserved to win and a shame Blythe didn't get the goal she deserved.
Today was a great game to be involved in with two equally matched sides and a story of one team taking chances, the game could have easily gone either way.
