Sunday saw Pride Park Devs take a step in the unknown playing a team that only just last season was in the top division a team we have never faced before, with players out due to injuries we knew we had to step up a gear to try and get a result.
Stapenhill's goal came 15 minutes into the game with a defensive error allowing the striker to run through giving the keeper no chance.
We dusted ourselves off and didn't let this effect our performance we banded together and worked for each other unfortunately picking up more injuries along the way with leaving us with just one sub.
Despite plenty of chances to score (again) we just couldn't make the breakthrough, some great chances from Rhiannon, Evie, Kombo and Blythe.
In a well balanced game with both sides battling well this was a even match full of chances, and we didn't look out of place for a div3 team.
The game was killed off in the 82nd minute with an unfortunate own goal by Blythe who tracked back really well to help out the defence as she tried to clear the ball.
Our skipper Becky's comments on the performance as she watched from the stands while recovering from injury - The team showed a real sense of togetherness. They managed the game well, creating good opportunities and closing the space to make it hard for the opposition to play. They deserved more but should be really proud of the performance
PoTM goes to the whole team for an outstanding team effort working together.
We wish Stapenhill all the best for the rest of the season and for the lovely jacket potatoes
