Everyone worked hard to win fifty-fifties and intercepting balls. Despite this only being PPFC's second fixture in almost two months, they maintained possession and pressure on Stretton Eagles with attack after attack. However, they were kept at bay by well organised defensive work from the opposition.
All players played their part. During the second half Fliss, Aoife and Ruby played a series of well timed, accurate passes through the middle of the pitch before passing it wide to Eloise who ran the ball into the corner before crossing it in. All under pressure and wonderful to watch!
When Stretton broke on the counter, PPFC's defence and goal keeper, Taylor, worked together with pass back clearances and Taylor dealing with loose balls in and outside of the area!
Unfortunately for PPFC, Stretton Eagles broke away and scored in the closing minutes of the match. PPFC threw everything at it for the last few minutes to find the equaliser, but it wasn't to be on the day.
Player of the match was awarded to Ruby, who was sharp! Playing a determined, skilful and balanced game in midfield.
After the match, PPFCs manager, Andy said: "This was an exciting game to watch. Our girls played some brilliant football today and although they didn't get the win, they worked hard on pressure and possession and came ever so close. We're all really proud of them and that next win is just around the corner!
