HILTON HARRIERS
WHAT A TEAM!

WHAT A TEAM!

Andrew Hobson11 May - 09:20

This fantastic team achieved a few firsts this Saturday.

PPFC's U13s played Hilton Harriers this Saturday on a glorious sunny morning, which gradually got hotter as the match went on. From the kick-off, it was clear that PPFC were working together and bringing their training to the match. This is the second successive match where the girls have won and kept possession well, mixing passing and running the ball.

In the first ten minutes PPFC created some well worked chances through Verity and Sophia in midfield, out wide to to Mia and Jade and then forwards to Macca who was a handful for Hilton's defence. However, it was midfielder Megan who opened the scoring with a fantastic lob over Hilton's keeper, putting PPFC in the lead. Megan's first goal this season and what a goal!

Whilst PPFC continued to create chances around different positions, Hilton made some dangerous attacked which Jess, Jamie-Leigh and our keeper Nevaeh managed brilliantly. But, just before half time Hilton got an equaliser.

Relatively early in the second half, Hilton managed to find a second goal with good movement of the ball and a good finish. This was the wake-up call PPFC needed and their 'never given-in' mentality kicked-in. Our players kept to the basics and did them well. Now with Hope, Amy and Scarlett making darting runs.

Their efforts paid off and Macca scored a screamer into the top left - blink and you'd miss it! Macca's first PPFC and League goal. Playing with more confidence, but still needing their reliable defence, PPFC scored a third through Hope who struck the ball powerfully into the corner of the net. Giving PPFC the win and Nevaeh's first win for PPFC.

After the game their manager Andy said: "We're all so proud of the girls - coaches and parents alike. They're working hard in training and on bringing that to the match. As well as creating a real friendly and supportive team spirit amongst themselves. They're understanding their positions and roles much more ... and gaining in confidence. They've scored six goals across five different players in the last two games which is fantastic. Well done all. This weeks PoM is Jade - she worked hard and made a big impact on the wing today, well done Jade"
