Another rearranged league fixture, another venue—this time played at the home of PPFC’s training centre. Conditions were similar to last week, with the sun shining and the girls in a familiar environment.
Woodlands started strong and dominated play, with PPFC struggling to find their rhythm. PPFC were resilient and assured in their defensive play allowing the team to grow into the game, increasingly holding possession and creating chances. The rewards paid off with Isla, Eloise, and Fliss taking us to half-time 3–0 up. Eloise's first goal of the season, off a neat ball through from Violet.
The half-time talk focused on belief, calmness, longer passes and switching play. The second half saw more assertive, forward play combined with confident defending to maintain a clean sheet. Mixing playing wide and down the centre, led to further goals in the second half with some excellent finishing by Emily, Yumi and Brooke - Yumi bagging her first goal of the season! It was great to see players combining dribbling and passing, especially Polly's run from left back to the oppositions 18 yard box.
Today’s midfielders Anya, Ruby, Fliss, Aiofe, and Eloise managed the centre of the park, finding through balls, creating chances and making runs themselves.
POTM went to Eloise—not just for today’s performance, but to applaud her effort and determination in recent matches and training. Bagging her first league goal of the season and a couple of assists was the cherry on top of a strong all-round display.
