Jess’s dad: “best passing I’ve seen the team do”

Really nicely done by the Lionesses, great teamwork throughout with all the players contributing some super football. A massive thank you to Layla and Jasmine for volunteering for a half in goal and keeping a clean sheet. A big shout out to birthday girl Evie for continuing to be epic as C/B and for bagging herself a nicely executed goal when playing more forward in the S/H. Zoe delivered the quality we are used to seeing, excellent game awareness, teamwork, passing and shooting – absolute joy to watch, scoring a hat trick in the F/H and then another goal from L/B in the S/H – there’s no stopping her! Jasmine was unlucky not to be on the score sheet today, excellent determination, speed, and a good positive touch, set her up a few times, the rub of the green just wasn’t on her side with a lot of well struck near misses.
A couple of standout moments from the game:
Some excellent passing through the lines finds Zoe out wide with the ball in the final 3rd, a neat little pass to feet finds Myah on the edge of the box, in one fluid movement Myah goes to take the shot, but fakes and tricks everyone, moving the ball 1 more player to just in front of Jess in space - Jess takes a nice touch forward setting up the shot on her right, she looks up, contacts the ball well with a strike on target, meggs’ing the keeper and notching another quality goal. Myah’s fake shot and pass in one movement was incredible.
And again, excellent passing around the opposition finds Isabella on the right. A slightly lofted quick pass from Isabella to Lily-May (just inside the area), sees Lily-May pivot around with a one touch finish, her nicely placed shot hitting the back of the net. Both players superb, excellent delivery from Isabella and Lily-May made a difficult finish look easy.
With so many of the players having a really strong game it was a difficult decision for the player of the match. All of the mentioned above, brilliant - excelled, and Edie too had a great game, putting in a tremendous effort. But we went with a very well deserving Greta, playing in R/B. Like we’ve written in previous weeks, she’s strong, fast, brave - this week was no exception. But what really impressed us was her quick reactions and how she responded under pressure. She had a fairly quiet F/H but found herself in the thick of the fray in the second - and she raised herself to the challenge performing really well. A really strong game for the team “great work Pride Park”
