The Jaguars showed real spirit in their latest game, producing a strong second-half performance full of energy and determination.
After a challenging opening period, where goalkeeper Alicia made some key saves to keep the team in touch, the response after the break was excellent. In the first minute, Rose capped off a driving run through midfield with a fine finish to get the Jaguars on the score sheet to make the score 1-2, while Amber and Katie both went close with efforts on goal as confidence grew.
Even after Gresley extended their lead, the Jaguars refused to give in. Rose struck again with a volley, and Wren showed great composure when played through to level the game at 3-3, a scoreline that reflected the team’s persistence. A fourth goal for Gresley came in unfortunate fashion, and despite pushing forward with an extra attacker in search of another equaliser, the opposition added a fifth with the final kick of the match.
There were plenty of positives for the Jaguars to take forward. The players responded well to the challenge of being more vocal, demanding the ball, and competing strongly in challenges—something that was clear to see in the second half.
Special mention goes to Holly, who battled through a knock in the first half but went on to deliver a solid defensive display after the break and player of the match went to Rose with 2 goals today, constantly driving the team forwards in the 2nd half.
