Another good performance from the girls, coming away with a 4–2 win. There was some great play all over the pitch, both as a team and individually, and we had to stay really switched on in the last 10 minutes to see the game out.
The Jaguars went 1–0 down, but Wren hit back with a lovely finish on her right foot after making a bit of space for herself. Then Zara played a brilliant pass inside from the left to Rose, who drove into the gap and stuck a left-footer past the keeper. That put the girls 2–1 up at half-time.
At the break we said we’d have to work even harder in the second half because Swadlincote needed the points to stay up. The Jaguars defended well and Wren made it 3–1, before they got one back to make things a bit nervy. But the girls responded with a really well-worked goal — Alicia setting up Wren, who finished it off nicely to get her hat-trick.
The defence — Holly, Evelyn, Esther and Tiana — dealt with the pressure brilliantly, backed up by the midfield of Rose, Grace, Zara and Katie, who just kept running all game. Freya caused problems up top with her movement and was unlucky not to score, and Katie went close too after a lovely cross from Zara.
Player of the Match: Wren — full of energy from start to finish and a brilliant hat-trick to top it off.
