Pride Park Jaguars 2 Woodlands Warriors 0
The Jaguars produced a superb all-round performance today, showing tremendous resilience to secure an excellent victory and a well-earned clean sheet against Woodlands.
Playing into a strong wind in the first half, Pride Park started brightly and quickly took control of the game. Rose was the standout attacking threat, bursting through the Woodlands defence to score two outstanding goals.
As expected, Woodlands responded with increased pressure after the break, forcing The Jaguars to defend with discipline and determination. Freya and Wren worked tirelessly from the front, chasing long balls and pressing the opposition back line, while the midfield quartet of Grace, Amber, Katie and Zara were excellent in breaking up play and limiting Woodlands’ opportunities.
The defensive unit stood strong throughout the second half. Evelyn, Esther, Holly, Tiana and Pride Park debutant Georgie made crucial blocks, clearances and interceptions to protect the goal. Goalkeeper Alicia also played her part with several important saves and composed handling to maintain the clean sheet.
Evelyn was deservedly awarded Player of the Match for a dominant and physical display in central defence, winning countless challenges and leading the team from the back.
A fantastic team result built on hard work, organisation and togetherness
