It was a tough morning for the girls as they were narrowly beaten 1–0 by Chesterfield in challenging conditions. The pitch was far from ideal, but with both teams facing the same surface it was Chesterfield who adapted slightly better and ultimately found the decisive moment late in the game.
The game started brightly for the Jaguars and within the first minute Wren forced the Chesterfield goalkeeper into a good save. The girls continued to work hard and created several promising moments throughout the match, although many of the chances didn’t quite trouble the keeper as much as they deserved.
Chesterfield also had their own opportunities, and Alicia was called into action a number of times, producing some impressive saves to keep the team in the game.
As the match moved towards the closing stages, the girls pushed for an equaliser and came close when Amber struck a powerful shot that brought a fantastic save from the Chesterfield goalkeeper.
While the result didn’t go our way, there were still positives to take and it’s one of those games the team can learn from. The girls will look to respond next week when they return to grass, aiming to bounce back with another strong performance.
