fter a month without a game, the girls were back in action in what proved to be a tough test. It took a bit of time to get going, which was understandable, but the effort and attitude improved as the game went on, especially in the second half.
There were some really positive moments in attack, with Amber, Grace, Wren and Katie all getting into good areas and forcing shots on goal. On another day, we probably come away with something from those chances.
Defensively, Holly had a lot to deal with from Allenton’s high balls forward. It wasn’t easy early on, but after a small adjustment she handled them really well and showed good composure.
Alicia showed great determination to try and get us back into the game, stepping out from goal into midfield and giving the team a lift.
Amber was named player of the match for her relentless work up front, leading the line on her own and constantly stretching the opposition. She was unlucky not to score, going close on a few occasions.
Overall, a tough game but plenty of positives to take, especially from the second half performance.
