U11 MATCH REPORT | PRIDE PARK PUMAS 4-1 HEANOR JUNIORS HAWKS

Pumas reach their first Cup final after a simply stunning display earlier today.

Up against a stubborn and physical Heanor, the girls set about their game in normal fashion trying to be as positive as they can and Erin had an early sighter from distance which hit the post. At the other end, Lily in goal was looking assured with a solid presence of Umayyah, Tayla, Dela and Ivy keeping most attacks at bay. In midfield, Bella, Millie, Mini, Dela and Enya were working hard, backing up their defence whilst also providing Erin and Sophie who were working no really hard with support when attacking.

Bella was unlucky when a long range free kick was tipped over but then the breakthrough came. Bella battling in midfield nudged a ball away from the Heanor player and Millie went on a run down the right and delivered the perfect cross which Erin was on hand to dispatch. This certainly lifted the girls as they went into half time.

The second half started a bit scrappy but the girls showed an air of confidence and stood up to the physical side, looking dangerous on the break and they deservedly got their second; again Millie was the provider winning the ball in the middle of the park and putting the ball into Sophie who applied a brilliant finish. They didn’t have to wait long for another as, again, Millie found Erin who took a touch and rounded the keeper to put the ball into the back of the net.

Bella was then unlucky when some terrific passing between her and Erin opened up their opponents and Bella couldn’t quite keep her effort on target. The girls were pegged back though when a scramble ended up being turned in after Bella had made a good save. Not to be deterred, the Pumas just got their heads down and went again to restore get their three 3 goal cushion and 2 minutes later their dominance paid off when Millie for a 4th time set up Erin after a break from midfield - she played a perfect ball and Erin did the rest.

Towards the end of the game, Millie again, went on one of her 100mph runs and was unlucky not to get a goal for her efforts. I would say it was the most complete performance from the girls, they showed they can mix it when they needed to, but also played some terrific football at times. Everyone played a pivotal role in the win, but Sophie and Erin were our joint players of the match.

The Pumas will face either Field Lane Lionesses or Little Eaton Diamonds Sapphires in the final on Bank Holiday Monday, 4th May
