Pride Park FC's U16s began their 2026/27 league campaign in impressive fashion with an entertaining victory away at Belper. On a warm and sunny morning, both teams started brightly, looking to move the ball through midfield and play with intent. PPFC enjoyed much of the early possession and created chances before they were rewarded when their attacking play produced the opening goal.

Belper responded well and showed resilience throughout the first half, enjoying spells of possession and challenging PPFC's midfield and defence. However, PPFC continued to look dangerous whenever they broke forward and carried a lead into half-time after maintaining pressure in and around the opposition penalty area.

The visitors produced a strong second-half display, playing with confidence and purpose. A series of well-worked attacking moves helped the team build momentum and create numerous chances. Particularly pleasing was the variety in the team's attacking play, with several different players contributing goals and assists. The goals were shared across the side, while teammates consistently created opportunities for one another, demonstrating excellent teamwork and attacking awareness.

Belper challenged throughout, finding goals of their own, whilst PPFC maintained their attacking threat throughout and finished the game strongly to secure an excellent opening-day win.

As always, the team will continue to enjoy developing individually and together, but this result reflected the team's positive approach in possession and their ability to create and convert chances across the pitch.
