Well… what a game that turned out to be. The second half was a look at things to come – from an exceptionally tough-minded group of kids that didn’t let their heads drop and who worked together to play the game they love.

A couple of special mentions: Isabel (GK) was outstanding, drawing praise from the Sleetmoor coaches and linesman from the very beginning and throughout – like last week some superb saves, and a penalty save too. And Ayla, again she worked really hard and showed great bravery from start to finish – a similar performance to last week which was brilliant.

Jasmine got us off to cracking start, scoring a great goal from a through ball in the first 30 seconds. The next 15mins was end to end action with Jasmine unlucky not to bag a couple more, forcing the Sleetmoor GK to pull off an incredible save.

A well prepared Sleetmoor, were continually testing our defence and GK, scoring a deflected goal which couldn’t be saved, and forcing another goal coming off a PP player. A rare mistake gifted them yet another goal and an injury took us down to 10 players. Everything was against us and even though we showed team work and resilience we found ourselves going into H/T 6-1 down.

S/H

A brave Evie returns back to the field, bringing us back up to 11 players, and with the focus on keeping the girl’s confidence and motivation up, we level up our game, and against all the odds absolutely smashed the second half. Jasmine is on fire scoring some real beauties from superb through balls. Her power and determination really shining bright – she raised her game and brought everyone with her.

WE DEFENDED WITH PASSION, we kept goal with skill and ingenuity, and we passed through the lines with confidence. Isabella on the wing and both Layla’s trying to including everyone, moving the ball really well.

Layla M’s goal:
We defend well, and Zoe has the ball at her feet in our area, she looks up to see Layla W in space in the midfield - A quick and perfect pass from Zoe finds her, and Layla W turns to see space in front of Layla M – Again a quick and perfect pass to set Layla M off, driving into space with excellent control and technique – she sees an opportunity and strikes with composure to score a brilliant team goal, sailing over the head of the Sleetmoor GK. And what’s more incredible, she’d done that twice already narrowly missing the target.

So, we lost the F/H 6-1
But, we did win the S/H 1-4, and with confidence too
