Pumas 3-0 Field Lane

A very assured performance today from the Pumas against a a good Field Lane team. The girls started on the front foot and were trying to get their passing game going but were not being helped by the wind which was causing havoc and holding the ball up. Missing a few players, the girls just set about their business with Bella testing the keeper from range. Sophie and Erin were causing problems upfront whilst being backed up by a solid defence which was being marshalled by Umayyah. Marcie making only her second appearance opened the scoring midway through the first half, a little give and go with Bella and she used her pace to sprint clear and applied a good finish to give the girls a deserved lead. Mini and Poppy were backing up Umayyah in defence whilst Dela was her normal battling self in the midfield and not giving the opponents a seconds rest. Lily was called into action late into the half when a horrible bouncing ball looked to be heading in but she made a decent stop to ensure we went in 1-0. The second half and the wind in our favour, the girls really went to work and pinned their opponents in brilliantly reducing them to very little with Ivy now supporting Umayyah in the backline and Poppy supporting the midfield more the girls were winning their individual duels all over the pitch. The second goal came courtesy of Erin, who was alive in the box and when the keeper spilled a shot by Bella, Erin was on hand to dribble the ball around the keeper and put it into an empty net. Bella had a free kick from range which went narrowly over, Sophie and Enya both tried their luck from distance too and were unable to get their names on the scoresheet. Then along came the third goal and from a player who throughly deserved a goal for her performance, Bella again causing issues, and the ball fell kindly for Mini, who turned and shot hard and low into the net. Tayla came on for her first appearance of the season too in the final few minutes which was also an added bonus for the day. A job well done by the girls and the parents voted Marcie as their player of the match.
