On a cold and rainy morning the Pumas set out about going one step better this year after narrowly missing out in the final of the cup last season.

Codnor awaited in the first round and looking to back up last weeks win the Pumas wasted no time in going about their task.
A quick start saw efforts from Amaya and Bella go wide with Erin putting in some dangerous crosses which could not be converted. But after 10 minutes Amaya netted her first goal for the club with a neat finish from close range. The girls were up and running and didn’t have to wait long for their second. A quick corner by Bella into Poppy’s feet, with a touch to set her up she whipped one into the top corner. The third came courtesy of Bella after a dribble into the box and she slid one under the keeper. Immediately from the restart the girls went on the attack again and Bella from an Erin assist got her second.

The defence made up of a combination of Umayyah, Mini, Tayla and Ivy were giving little away and leaving Lily with little to do in goal. Dela and Poppy shored up the midfield with Millie in a more attacking role going down the line with Bella and Marcie raiding the other wing were causing trouble at every opportunity.

Erin, Amaya, Enya and Sophie were lively in attacking positions and could easily have had a few more goals if not for a good Codnor keeper making some good saves keeping the score down.

Into the second half and the rain arrived but this didn’t stop the girls. Bella T replaced Lily in goal for the second half but the girls set about extending their advantage and Bella tucked in her 3rd of the game after a jinking run past 3 defenders and placed her shot into the bottom corner. The girls did have to wait for the 6th goal but Bella grabbed her 4th after a deflected effort flew past the keeper. And as the game was into the closing stages, Amaya grabbed her second of the game after she followed up her initial effort that the keeper saved well, with a tidy finish into the corner.

Job done and into the next round. Bella after a dominant performance was named player of the match by the parents.
