It’s good to be back playing and our youngest and newest team enthusiastically returned to the pitch this morning.

It was good to see our youngest team back on the pitch and evidently happy to be playing again and looking the business in their new match kits and rainjackets - generously sponsored by Heartland Animal Services and Lubrizol respectively.

Despite the long break the girls were quickly back into their stride and they all played tremendously well.

Taking a turn in goal in the first half, Zoe made confident decisions and some good saves. Molly made some excellent runs and Iysla, Daisy and Emily (who went in goal for the second half) were confident in the challenge, and in passing the ball forward.

Lucy and Freya were breaking up Chellaston’s attacks to win possession and launch our counter attacks with accurate passing. Molly, Edie and Zoe (in the second half) combining really well to create chances. Edie, Molly and Zoe took their chances really well, with Iysla also going close, bringing out the best of the Chellaston ‘keeper who had an excellent game. Chellaston also did well and played their part in a really enjoyable return to football

Considering the team was only formed and started playing at the beginning of December, just before lockdown, we didn’t really know what to expect, but there was nothing to worry about - the girls were extremely enthusiastic and back into their stride quickly. The girls apply themselves well in training, are eager to learn and are gaining in confidence; the future is bright!
