2. Code of Conduct for Young Players [Feb 2021]


Play your best. Be your best. Make sure you and everyone around you has a good time on and off the pitch.

PLAY YOUR PART AND SUPPORT THE FA’s CODE OF RESPECT.

When playing football I will:

  • Always play my best for the benefit of the team
  • Play fairly and be friendly
  • Play by the rules and respect the Referee
  • Shake hands with the other team – win or lose
  • Listen carefully to what my coach/team manager tells me
  • Understand that a coach has to do what’s best for the team
  • Talk to someone I trust or the club welfare officer if I am unhappy about anything at my club
  • Encourage my teammates
  • Respect the facilities home and away
  • Be punctual at all times and give my coach/manager as much notice as possible when I will not be available for training or matches.
  • Wear at the kit supplied all times for the activity being attended
  • Wear shin pads for both playing and training.
  • Look after the kit supplied and keep it well laundered and in good condition. I will report any wear to the team manager. Return kit when I leave the club
  • Always inform the coach or manager if I have an injury.
  • Not wear jewellery of any kind at training or in matches.

I understand that if do not follow the Code, I may:

  • Be asked to apologise to whoever I’ve upset
  • Receive a formal warning
  • Be dropped, substituted or suspended from training
  • Be required to leave the club
